Ayako Hamada, la luchadora mexico-japonesa, ha tenido un año 2012, bastante parado dentro de la escena independiente estadounidense y se ha dedicado prácticamente todo el año a luchar en Japón. En Estados Unidos ha luchado en los ocho eventos de Shimmer donde empezó el año como campeona de parejas junto a Ayumi Kurihara. En los tres primeros shows de la empresa, Hamada y Kurihara defendieron con éxito sus títlos, en el evento 45 lo hicieron derrotando a Regeneration X (Allison Danger & Leva Bates), en el show número 46 derrotaron a Hailey Hatred & Kalamity y en el show número 47 consiguieron vencer a Leon & Ray. Ya en el último show de marzo Hamada y Kurihara perderían los títulos en un combate fatal four way ante Courtney Rush & Sara del Rey en un combate donde también participaron The Canadian Ninjas & Regeneration X. En los shows de octubre, Hamada regresaría a la competición individual con un registro magnífico de cuatro victorias en cuatro combates y con una rivalidad instaurada con Athena, que las llevará a aluchar en un combate en jaula en 2013. En el primer show de octubre el número 49, Hamada derrotó a Kalamity. En el show número 50 sería la japonesa Kana la que perdería ante Ayako, en el volumen 51 vencería a Portia Pérez y en el último show del año, en el volumen 52, Hamada derrotó a Athena para dar inicio a la rivalidad anteriormente dicha. Además de sus shows en USA, Hamada ha luchado habitualmente en la empresa de Joshi WAVE pero hasta la fecha no ha conseguido hacerse con ningún campeonato.
