Y llega el segundo evento en importancia del año y de la WWE. Este domingo tenemos un nuevo SummerSlam cargado de combates buenos y a priori muy interesantes. Un cartel impresionante en el que sobra el combate de Natalya vs. Brie que solo se entiende por la promoción de Total Divas y que perfectamente podría ir en el Pre-show dejando dentro del propio cartel en combate por el USA. Pero a excepción de esto, el cartel en sí tiene toda la pinta de hacer honor a este SummerSlam, y de hacer un gran evento entretenido y divertido. En principio es impecable y dando mucho juego por la cantidad de títulos que pueden cambiar de mano, pero como siempre esto es WWE, vamos a ver como acaba y si la ilusión no termina en decepción.

Este PPV introduce la novedad del preshow también en español desde diferentes plataformas de visión (que es de muy agradecer para toda la comunidad hispana y latina), además de entrevistas exclusivas y el análisis de Superstars, Divas y leyendas de WWE durante toda la hora que dura este preshow en abierto.

United States Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Rob Van Dam (Kickoff Match)

Como he dicho antes, este combate debería formar parte del evento en sí y no dejarlo fuera ya que va ser muy bueno por la calidad que atesoran ambos contendientes. Esperemos que debido a ello, den algo más de tiempo que lo que vienen haciendo para que los dos puedan lucir toda la técnica que atesoran. Especialmente RVD que para sacar todo el potencial y entrar en comunión con el público, no puede estar solo 5 minutos sobre el ring. Será especialmente ágil por su parte, frente a un Ambrose que atesora una técnica muy cuidada que saca sobretodo cuando tiene enfrente luchadores con gran calidad y experiencia. Sin tener un feudo detrás, el solo hecho de tenerlos juntos ya merece la pena. Retendrá Ambrose ya que RVD apenas acaba de volver y no sería muy justo darle un título tan pronto pero eso no quita importancia al combate en sí.

Seguramente lo que pase antes, durante y después se retransmitirá también en próximas entregas del pseudo-reality. Todo el feudo entre ellas se ha podido ver en el programa de E! Y se resume en una rivalidad por ser la más experimentada y la mejor preparada en veteranía y técnica para liderar la división de Divas. Si a estas seis sumamos que JoJo también estará cantando el himno, ya tenemos todo el elenco del programa dentro del PPV. En cuanto al combate, esperemos que Natalya ponga el toque de calidad y esa experiencia familiar la sirva para noquear a su rival, aunque me temo que las gemelas (por el protagonismo de ser las parejas de Cena y Bryan) haran su habitual cambio de último minuto para que Brie (o Nikki) se lleve la victoria.

Con el recuerdo de su último combate esta semana en RAW y el “botcheo” del árbitro, nos encontramos con este combate mixto por parejas, donde sin duda, son ellas las protagonistas. Su feudo ha sido y sigue siendo muy entretenido y sus combates están siendo muy buenos, de lo mejorcito que se ha visto en esta división en los últimos meses, por no decir años. Volvemos a un enfrentamiento de fuerza bruta frente a agilidad total, pero esta vez acompañadas de sus propios “guardaespaldas” con su historia particular detrás. Todo junto parece más un argumento de telenovela que un espectáculo de lucha, pero esto es WWE. Como digo, el peso del combate lo llevarán ellas aunque no por ello dejaremos de ver a Ziggler frente a Big E. aunque espero que sean los que se coman menos tiempo. Al no tener el título en juego, la presión no es la misma y por lo tanto el resultado no será tan lógico. Ganarán la pareja de Ziggler y Kaitlyn (esta pareja me gusta mucho más que con AJ) desquitándose ella de las últimas derrotas por sumisión de anteriores PPV.

 Uno de los combates más estructurados de todo el cartel. Con un feudo que arranca en MITB y que ha ido avanzando en importancia y desarrollándose a lo largo de los programas semanales de RAW con intervenciones mutuas e interfiriendo en los progresos individuales del contrario. Casi todo el mundo piensa, yo incluido, que Rhodes debió ganar el maletín por esfuerzo y calidad sobre el ring en el anterior PPV. Este combate va a estar muy igualado ya que ambos contrincantes se conocen demasiado por su etapa en el TAG y además fisica y técnicamente son muy parecidos. Espero un combate muy intenso basado especialmente en la técnica más que en la fuerza o la agilidad donde Cody Rhodes ganará en revancha del MITB y podrá optar a ser retador al título de los pesos pesados.

La estipulación está clara, ganar por pinfall o sumisión sin interferencias de otros. Un combate brutal de dos pesos pesados de la WWE en donde Kane vuelve a asumir el rol con el que empezó este nuevo momento de enmascarado dejando atrás la fase “de comedia” junto a Bryan. Dos locos dementes en el ring. Puede pasar cualquier cosa aunque espero que Wyatt gane el combate para entrar por la puerta grande a esta nueva etapa en WWE.

En mi particular visión de brujo (que luego no vale para nada, jejeje) creo que este combate es el tapadillo del PPV y será junto al Cena vs. Bryan el combate de la noche. Vienen muy dispuestos, con enfrentamientos reconocidos y victorias paralelas. Pero son dos luchadores muy experimentados, sabiendo mucho en lo técnico, pero ágiles y dinámicos a la par. Va a ser un combate muy rápido, de poca fuerza y mucha astucia y psicología sobre el ring. A un 90% estoy seguro que retendrá ADR pero no me sorprendería nada una derrota del campeón por interferencia en el tramo final de Ricardo Rodríguez a favor de Christian.

In my particular vision of witch I think this fight will be next to Cena vs. Bryan the match of the night. They come very prepared, with clashes recognized and parallel victories. But two fighters are very experienced, knowing much technically, but agile and dynamic yet. It will be a very fast fighter, of low strength and high cunning and psychology in the ring. A 90% sure it will retain ADR but not surprise me defeat the champion in the final interference from Ricardo Rodriguez for Christian.

CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar

Mucha gente va a pagar lo que vale este PPV solo por este combate. Estoy seguro de ello y no me extraña nada. La atracción que tiene Punk con el universo WWE es extraordinaria y verlo enfrentarse a una de las mayores bestias del roster actual es todo un aliciente. Punk ha prometido llegar hasta Heyman por su traición pasando por encima de quien sea. Lesnar es uno de sus obstáculos. Va a ser un combate intenso desde las entradas iniciales de los luchadores. Fuerza bruta contra agilidad y técnica desmesurada (¿podrá levantar Punk a Lesnar para su GTS?). Pero además tenemos el aliciente de Heyman en la esquina que es capaz de cualquier cosa, y por si fuera poco, el Campeón Intercontinental Curtis Axel que no defiende su título en este PPV puede salir en cualquier momento para ayudar a su mentor y a su compañero. Con todo esto, podemos esperar de todo en esta lucha en la que creo que finalmente ganará CM Punk para consolidar de nuevo su papel de BIW, además Lesnar vuelve al tiempo parcial y aparecerá poco por TV como para vender adecuadamente una victoria sobre Punk.

David contra Goliat, y no solo por tamaño sino por carisma, por imagen, por.. todo. Sin apenas feudo, sin apenas historia, siendo claramente amigos fuera de WWE, emparejados con dos hermanas gemelas, co-protagonistas de Total Divas… pero Bryan es además del presente, el futuro más inmediato de la empresa. Un luchador que lo tiene todo a partes iguales, completo en todos los sentidos y que engancha con el público desde el momento que aparece. Bryan estaba pidiendo a gritos este push y aquí lo tiene. No veremos un combate muy igualado, no veremos equidad en los contrincantes, no será un combate corto sino de desgaste para ambos,pero espero que veamos a un nuevo campeón de la WWE. Espero que Bryan saque a relucir todo su arsenal para doblegar a Cena y hacer que ponga rodilla en tierra obligándolo a rendirse para coronarse con el cinturón de campeón. Y espero también que WWE no tenga la mala idea de sacar a Orton para canjear el maletín y deslucir así la victoria. Bryan ha de ganar, así lo esperamos muchos de este universo WWE. es importante también ver que va a pasar con Triple H y como sigue su segmento con Vince después de este combate.

David vs. Goliath, and not just by size but by charisma, by picture, by .. everything. En cuanto a las posibles sorpresas de última hora que no han sido anunciadas oficialmente pero se intuye que puedan pasar, destaca un combate entre los actuales campeones por parejas frente al equipo formado por Big Show y Henry, en el que no deberían tener muchos problemas para ganar los campeones miembros de The Shield frente a la pareja de colosos de la WWE con un Show todavía tocado de su lesión que hace poco viable este combate con esta pareja. Me decanto más por un Ryback & Henry frente a Reigns & Rollings, aunque con idéntico resultado.

Y por si fuera poco, un montón de superstars que no aparecen el en cartel inicial pero que podrían aparecer en cualquier momento para dar un giro inesperado a la acción. Gente como el propio Orton, Cesaro, Kofi, Swagger, los Uso… etc. Luchadores con los que hay que contar siempre, y más si se trata de SUMMERSLAM.
