Katie Lea, la ex-luchadora de TNA y WWE ha vuelto este año de manera definitiva al mundo independiente tras abandonar la empresa de Dixie Carter, aunque anteriormente ya había participado en shows independientes destacando sus apariciones en la empresa FWE donde en el mes de marzo se proclamó campeona femenina de la empresa. Anteriormente en febrero había participado en el torneo para encontrar a la primera campeona, donde derrotó en la semifinal a Brooke Tessmacher, pero perdería en la final ante Maria Kanellis. Su venganza llegaría en marzo cuando en una triple amenaza derrotaría a Maria Kanellis & Rosita para alzarse con el título. En abril lo defendería con acierto ante Melina, y ya en julio lo perdería nuevamente ante Maria Kanellis. En FWE tambien disputo dos combates por parejas el primero haciendo equipo con Jillian Hall y perdiendo ante el equipo de Rosita & Maria Kanellis, y en el segundo formando equipo con Maria Kanellis para perder ante The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky). Además de en FWE, Katie Lea estuvo presente en el torneo para encontrar la primera campeona de B.L.O.W  donde a pesar de perder en primera ronda ante Sienna DuVall, fue rescatada para cuartos de final y alli eliminó a Annie Social para tener un hueco en la final. Katie Lea perdió ante Jazz en el show debut de la empresa House of Hardcore y en el mes de julio estuvo de tour por Reino Unido donde participó en un show de Pro Wrestling Eve perdiendo ante Nikki Storm y en un show de NGW donde ganó a Alpha Female.

Katie Lea, former WWE and TNA wrestler this year has become the world definitively independent after leaving the company of Dixie Carter, although previously had participated in independent shows highlighting his appearances in the company FWE where in March proclaimed champion female company.
