Chuck Taylor, el luchador de Kentucky, ha sido quizá el mejor heel del año 2012 dentro del mundo independiente de Estados Unidos, gracias a su papel de malo tanto en Evolve como en Dragon Gate USA, asi como formando parte del grupo Fist dentro de Chikara donde consiguió este año ser campeón por parejas tras derrotar a 3.0 en abril hasta perderlo de nuevo en junio ante The Young Bucks. En Dragon Gate USA formó parte de Ronin hasta que atacó a traición a Johnny Gargano tras perder los títulos ante World 1, y a partir de aqui creó su propio grupo en Dragon Gate USA, The Gentlemen´s Club junto a Orange Cassidy, Drew Gulak, & The Swamp Monster, junto a ellos consiguió algunas victoria en Dragon Gate USA y Evolve, pero su gran rivalidad de este año de Chuck Taylor ha sido la que ha tenido con Johnny Gargano con el que se enfrentó  en Evolve 15 por el título Open The Freedom Gate donde acabaría perdiendo y luego se enfrentaría nuevamente a él en un I Quit Match en el evento de Dragon Gate USA «Enter the Dragon 2012» donde de nuevo saldría derrotado. También participó en el torneo de King of Trios 2012 donde llegó a la final formando parte del Team Fist y llegaría a las semifinales del toreno de IWC SuperIndy XI donde caería derrotado ante Sami Callihan
