Matt Taven, el luchador de New Hampshire, ha tenido un año prometedor, tanto es asi que se llegó a rumorear con un posible fichaje del luchador por el territorio de desarrollo de WWE. Durante este año 2012 Matt taven ha sido campeón del título absoluto de Top Rope Promotions en dos ocasiones la primera le duraba desde agosto de 2011 y acabó en abril de 2012 y en junio volvería a recuperar el título para perderlo en julio, Bobby Ocean, Brandon Webb o Biff Busick han sido algunas de sus victimas. En CW también ha sido campeón del título de New England en un par de ocasiones durante este año enfrentándose a rivales como Eddie Edwards o Julian Starr con quien ha tenido una gran rivalidad. Además Taven ha luchado en NEW donde cosechó una gran victoria ante Matt Hardy en el Wrestlefest XVI y también ha ganado a Tomasso Ciampa y llegó a luchar por el título absoluto pero perdió ante Brian Anthony. Por último decir que Matt Taven ha tenido unas cuantas apariciones en ROH, en enero apareció en dos programas de televisión perdiendo en ambos ante Mike Mondo, y luego ha caído en combates para televisión de nuevo ante Michael Elgin, Tomasso Ciampa & Jay Lethal. por último lucho en el show Boiling Point donde participó en un four corner survival match que ganó QT Marshall y donde también participaron Antonio Thomas & Vinnie Marseglia.
