Battleground, el nuevo y más innovador PPV de WWE de los últimos años… feudos geniales, historias sorprendentes, luchadores  en su mejor momento de forma, títulos en juego, combates nunca vistos, emoción sin límites, entretenimiento por cada poro… un show épico que te mantendrá pegado a la pantalla sin tiempo apenas para moverte, y todo esto en…..

No, que va. Que nadie espere esto de WWE ni este domingo  ni en unos meses. En tres semanas desde el último PPV no se puede, es imposible montar nada decente que atraiga lo suficiente y con calidad para destacar. El esfuerzo de alguno de los implicados salvará lo poco que se puede salvar de un RAW SuperShow sin anuncios que es esto que nos ofrecen el domingo. El cartel no acompaña, está casi todo demasiado visto, no hay nada detrás para poder dar entidad propia a un show montado pura y exclusivamente para mantener la tónica de un PPV más o menos mensual. Intrascendente y de transición. No esperéis nada bueno porque poco habrá aparte de Bryan y lo comprobaremos con los análisis generales pos-show y sobretodo con las cifras de venta. En fin, vamos al análisis.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow (Kickoff Match)

Pobre Ziggler, ya no sé si se puede caer más bajo una vez ha llegado a tocar el cielo y el oro con las manos. Después de esto lo llevan de jobber a NXT y de la mano se lleva a Sandow, todo un Mr. MITB con uno de los objetos más preciado de la empresa sin nada que hacer y rellenando huecos como los preshow. Ambrose no tiene combate previsto en este PPV y ha tenido un feudo interesante con el rubio platino las últimas semanas, lo lógico hubiera sido continuar el feudo aquí incluso con el cinto en juego, pero ya sabemos  cómo andan de lógica en WWE. Será, como todos estos combates, de relleno para intentar calentar al personal pero intrascendente. Rápido y poco vistoso. Creo que ganará Ziggler porque está más necesitado de ello aunque no le valga para nada. Sandow tiene el maletín y eso le puede convertir en protagonista en cualquier momento, incluso en este show.

Así, como el que no quiere la cosa relegan al campeón intercontinental a ser mera comparsa a expensas de decisiones sobre su carrera que ni el mismo puede sostener. No se fían que pueda mantener la presión y el interés sobre un feudo largo y le van a ir pasando contrincante tras contrincante hasta que su “tercera generación” deje de tener peso o hasta q        ue le encuentren sustituto como chico Heyman. Retendrá el campeón porque es lo único que le sostiene en el puesto en el que está actualmente y dentro de la storyline de Heyman. No veremos un gran combate, ni será rápido ni efectivo. Son dos luchadores de nivel medio que con un igual enfrente no dan todo de sí. Tendrá muchos tiempos muertos sobre la lona ya que no tienen química.

La encuesta la gana la desparecida y no lesionada Kaitlyn con un 60 y pico por ciento de los votos frente al poco más del 4 por ciento de Brie. Pero en ese afán de seguir dando bola a Total Divas (que os recuerdo en sus últimos programas perdió audiencia a mares) ponen de retadora a la gemela para seguir con eso de Total Divas vs. Divas WWE (¿no eran todas iguales?) y dejan a una gran luchadora como Kaitlyn en la nevera de nuevo. El combate en sí no debería estar mal, dos luchadoras muy ágiles que darán un combate muy rápido y visual. No será muy técnico ni basado en la fuerza, y se definirá por sumisión. Retendrá AJ Lee y seguiremos con la storyline de Divas vs. Divas.

La novedad de WWE en este PPV es ver luchar a Kofi sin que defienda o intente conseguir el título USA o el IC. Por lo demás, visto que el cartel se les quedaba muy corto, han incluido de última hora este combate que no aporta nada en ningún sentido y solo interesa por volver a ver a Wyatt en el ring y esta vez dando una paliza al pobre de Kofi. Por supuesto ganará Bray, seguramente con ayuda de sus acólitos. Kofi llevará el peso del combate al principio marcando con movimientos ágiles y rápidos, pero Wyatt lo pillará en algún momento y ya solo será fuerza y golpes  contra el cuerpo del africano hasta dominarlo en un combate que solo sirve para seguir afianzando la figura de Bray para la historia que tengan en mente con él.

Quizá el combate que más me atraiga porque es el único innovador de todo el cartel. En principio suena muy entretenido, con grandes luchadores en ambas esquinas. El tag de los hermanos es especialmente visual (¿veremos a Silverdust?) y el tener a todo un HOF en la esquina lo hace más atractivo. Enfrente los campeones actuales de la división por equipos, una combinación perfecta de fuerza y técnica. Será apasionante, además las estipulaciones lo hacen aún más esperado. Si la familia Rhodes gana, gana no solo el combate sino dos contratos para los hermanos y la posibilidad de seguir viendo a Goldust una temporada más de manera oficial, pero si pierden se van todos a la calle, incluso el patriarca de su cargo en NXT. Sinceramente creo que ganaran los hermanos Rhodes con intervención de su padre. La storyline ha enganchado mucho entre el universo y ha generado muchas expectativas. Sería el inicio de un buen y bonito feudo entre ellos y los campeones actuales por el objetivo del título por parejas y un gran retiro definitivo de Goldust.

¿Este no lo hemos visto ya?…ah sí, hace un año más o menos en HIAC. La verdad es que no me atrae nada. Otro obstáculo para Punk en su camino hacia Heyman, otro “The Best vs. The Beast”, otro combate de agilidad y técnica contra fuerza bruta. Otro combate que pierde Punk seguramente de manera no legal (es que si gana la historia ya no tiene gracia, se trata de ponerle piedras una tras otra hasta que esto se acabe y lo vuelvan a poner en la órbita del título de la WWE del que no debió marcharse). El problema de estos PPV es que “matan” las historias al obligarse a poner estos combates tan de calzador.

HHH planteó esta estipulación dentro de un entorno PG que nadie sabe a ciencia cierta cómo saldrá el experimento. La verdad es que es lo que lo hace atractivo. Un combate “normal” entre los dos hubiera sido matador y así al menos lo han salvado. El problema es que ya todos sabemos que el lunes RVD se coge vacaciones y por lo tanto no va a ganar el título. Una vez dicho esto, pues veremos un combate al estilo como hemos visto las últimas semanas, se darán con todo y por todos los lados por donde les dejen. No será nada técnico, será todo fuerza y a ver quién pilla más objetos con el que golpear al contrario y dejarle lo más tirado posible. ADR ganará por supuesto, y no me extrañaría que con ayuda (y traición a RVD) por parte de Ricardo Rodríguez. Dejarán a RVD en camilla y será la excusa para desaparecer hasta Royal Rumble.

La empresa no quiere un campeón al menos hasta Survivor Series así que estos dos darán todo de sí durante un buen rato (más Bryan que Orton seguro) y al final pasará algo que impida coronar un campeón. Intervendrá HHH, o los faces, o los Heels, o Big Show, o Step McMahon, u otro árbitro contando demasiado rápido… cualquiera que haga algo para que se declare desierto una vez más el campeonato y mantener la tensión del feudo para el siguiente PPV. Como he dicho antes, al final terminan por “matar” la gracia de estos feudos imponiendo combates tan interesantes tan rápidamente uno detrás de otro, sin dar tiempo a que “reposen”. Van a terminar por hacer buenos tantos ME de Cena.

Who will be the WWE Champion after Battleground? … it neither. WWE has that quality to put spoiler (to sell future) every few minutes and that makes you intuit what will happen before it happens. Y hasta aquí lo que da de sí este cartel. Poco, predecible y no muy bueno. Esperemos como siempre alguna sorpresa de última hora que lo haga algo más atractivo según pasen los minutos pero a primera vista, no esperéis un gran PPV, ni siquiera un buen PPV.
